What is a Directed Donor?
A Directed Donor is where the recipient knows the identity of the donor (i.e.: the donor is a friend, relative, etc.) and the recipient has asked that person to donate sperm specifically for her; OR a directed donor is an individual who needs their specimens approved by FDA standards so that the specimens can be used in a variety of situations (i.e. a future partner, a gestational carrier, or a traditional surrogate).
CryoGam screens and tests directed donors just like they do anonymous donors; however, a directed donor's sperm will only be available to the selected recipient. Screening and testing of a directed donor requires an initial physical and relevant communicable disease testing, a 6-month quarantine period, and repeat screening and testing. Please read through the directed donor process and associated fees to get a better idea of what it entails. You may also contact us if you have further questions or would like to receive the necessary paperwork to begin the program.
